Ed Schrader shares third single “Seagull

February 20, 2018 12:58 pm

Ed Schrader’s Music Beat shared another taste from their forthcoming album, Riddles. With “Seagull,” the duo reflects the desire for forward momentum in all its forms. Check it out via Consequence of Sound.

Ed on the video: “‘Seagull’ is about a person who fears all the trappings of complacency, and to whom the term ‘settling down’ is like kryptonite. It is about that irrepressible road warrior in all of us that needs to feel the flame and skinned knees of adventure! The young, idealistic artist who prizes content over currency! Within the song though we see the cost of that freedom: ‘Leaving is such a mess/ But I’m tired of just hanging round.’”

Just over two weeks until the Music Beat tours around the country. Tickets here.

Ed Schrader’s Music Beat shares new single “Riddles” + announces UK/EU tour

January 31, 2018 9:55 am

Ed Schrader’s Music Beat is back with another taste of their forthcoming record, Riddles, out March 2nd. The 405 just premiered the title track:

“…[‘Riddles’] a song that encapsulates just how unpigeonholable Ed Schrader’s Music Beat is. Beginning with a stately piano prelude, fitting for the opening of a symphony, ‘Riddles’ takes off with the addition of Schrader’s diminutively soaring vocal line, which is picked up in a gust of melodicism that sends the song rushing headlong into its cathartic chorus…’Riddles’ seems to be an understatement for all the twisted and thought-provoking things happening within the song.”

The track is available when you pre-order the record via the Carpark shop. It is also on all streaming services.

Ed Schrader also gave us an important meaning of the track, deep and thoughtful.
“to me this song is about shaking the ghost of an ever present teenage self only to realize you are only ‘that ghost’ and nothing more -you’ve been asleep in your head and you wake to a shattered present which makes that over romanticized ‘ideal’ past all that more alluring -even with its monsters -you run back into it and pull the covers over your head –it was where my head was at the time I got a voice mail that my Step Dad died -a larger than life character in my life who I had very mixed and unresolved feelings about -it was like waking up and suddenly the mountains are all gone -your gravity shifts and it kicks up all the dust bunnies of a damaged past along with its rich dark beauty.”

After their lengthy North American run this Spring, the duo is heading overseas. All tour dates here.

Ed Schrader’s Music Beat signs to Carpark, announces album + tour, shares single

January 10, 2018 10:16 am

A rock duo from Baltimore that, despite all the reports, takes itself seriously.

Today, we are more than pleased to welcome Ed Schrader’s Music Beat to the Carpark family. Their new release, Riddles, will be coming your way March 2nd. In the meantime, you can watch the *sick* music video for their first single, “Dunce”, via Noisey.

“For me, the album parallels feelings of confronting the past, resolving it, facing the music, and blasting out of it,” says Ed. “It’s the album our hearts wanted us to make.” Riddles is a full-length collaboration between Ed Schrader’s Music Beat and Dan Deacon. All three people invested their souls into this record for two full years, and it shows.

We can’t wait to share this record with you. Pre-orders are available now on the Carpark shop, iTunes, and Spotify. You can also bundle your purchase with Ed Schrader’s Music Beans! They are roasted and packaged by the band at Thread Coffee in Baltimore, MD. A very limited supply. Get them while you can!
