Ducks Ltd.’s single “Grim Symmetry” bursts open with high-speed jangly guitar riffs and an unstoppable bassline and drum beat. The bright, propulsive track’s lyrics are contrastingly wistful though, despite their whimsical delivery. Written during the Modern Fiction era, “Grim Symmetry” finds singer Tom Mcgreevy in deep self-reflection, recognizing his flaws only after seeing them in others. True to form, Ducks Ltd.’s music sweetens the bitter pill.
